Phantasmagoria and the invisble beings was featured in FITA Magazine Vol. III – Star Portraits, Chapter 5. This volume was dedicated to Portraiture and the city of London. I was invited by the Editorial Team to write on my work Cabeças Falantes (2017).

Cabeças Falantes (Talking Heads) is a portrait series made of agar-agar and microorganisms collected from each individual’s face. The sculptures always start as yellow-ish transparent faces and, as time goes by, the person’s skin flora develops. 

Representation is, to a great extent, dependent on visibility and invisibility. The subject has to be, first and foremost, considered a subject. And then, in order to be represented, the subject must be visible: an acknowledgment of existence even before the representation of suh existence.
Representation can come before acknowledgement, as a political, artistic and social act of transformation. If certain subjects aren’t being portrayed, they’re not being recognized.
